POLAND Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki

At the heart of the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki, Krakow stands the Chapel of the miraculous image of the Merciful Jesus and the tomb of St. Faustina. The Sanctuary is housed in the monastery buildings of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. The painting within depicts Christ as he appeared to a visionary Polish nun, St. Faustina Kowalska in 1931. She lived and died in this monastery between the world wars. Pope John Paul II consecrated this sanctuary in 2002.
