POLAND Wawel Cathedral

More than 900 year-old Wawel Cathedral is basically a Gothic structure, with the surrounding chapels being added on later. It is considered a national sanctuary. The Royal Cathedral has witnessed many coronations of Polish kings, funerals and burials of Poland’s monarchs and national heroes over the centuries. Pope John Paul II offered his first mass as a priest here.
