SLOVAKIA Blue Church
A short walk east from the Old Town there is the Church of St Elizabeth, also known as Blue Church, the most appealing Art Nouveau building in Bratislava. Its appearance is like from a fairy tale. Its facade, mosaics, majolica are in a pale blue hue, including the pale blue-gazed roof. Its interior is also painted in shades of pale blue. The church is created in the Hungarian Secessionist style, playfully combined with Oriental, Romanesque and classical features. It is dedicated to Elizabeth of Hungary, a princess of the Kingdom of Hungary, who risked her rank by giving alms to the poor.
