POLAND Wawel Castle
The Royal Wawel Castle that you see today is a renaissance palace dating from the 16th century. Wawel Castle is a potent symbol of the national identity and at present is a home to a museum that contains five separate sections: the most impressive State Rooms and Royal Private Apartments; then Crown Treasury & Armoury; Lost Wawel; and an Exhibition of Oriental Art. It also houses the city’s most valuable painting, Leonardo da Vinci’s The Lady with an Ermine.
